SNH's Responses to Consultations

As part of SNH’s role to advise Ministers, the public sector and the public on matters that affect Scotland's natural heritage, we respond to consultations.  These include proposals from the UK and Scottish Governments, the European Commission and various other organisations.  You can search for SNH's responses to recent national and international consultations below.

Under the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005, which came into force on 20 February 2006, all public plans, programmes and strategies (PPS) in Scotland need to undergo a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).  The Act identifies three Consultation Authorities – Historic Scotland, SEPA and SNH.  The Consultation Authorities provide expert advice on the SEA at three levels – Screening, Scoping and the final Environmental Report.  Our responses to SEAs are also available through the search below.
